Model: M3

Work Performed:
This is a full BMWCCA/NASA/SCCA compliant rollcage. The car will be run in BMW C-MOD, NASA GTS3 and SCCA ITE. All tube rolling and welding done in-house at our shop. The cage was tied into the front shock towers (with additional reinforcement) and to the rear differential mounting points. Extras included NASCAR-style bars for the driver side and punched gussets and pillar tie-in plates.

E46 Ground Up Race Car Build

Tue, Feb 19th,

Year: 2002

Make: BMW

Model: M3

Work Performed:
Our Partner, TrackPro Advisors is having us build a ground-up race car from a street-car chassis. This is a particularly interesting project since while many E46 chassis require reinforcement due to factory problems (and we have done plenty), this one took the failures to a whole new level. We had to remove all of the sheet metal around the subframe, manufacture new subframe mounts, reinforce the chassis, and then tie this to the roll cage. This is a "work in progress" that started just after the new year and we are targeting a test and tune on March 16, 2013. Lots of great goodies going into this car; Traqmate data acquisition, full solid bushings, 3-way adjustable remote canister suspension and a host of other special, custom pieces.

VW Bus Build - Flower Power

Tue, Dec 18th,

Year: 1965

Make: VW

Model: Bus Type II

Work Performed:
This was a ground up restoration of a 1965 VW Bus with a "little" customization. A donor shell was selected and completely stripped down. The shell was then cleaned, sandblasted, repaired, primed and painted. All of the mechanicals were replaced and a custom white vinyl interior was fabricated while maintaining the panels and cabinets that were authentic to the original.

We installed a few extra "goodies" along the way: satellite radio; satellite navigation; front seat heaters and air conditioning. And then, to top it off, a custom paint job. We think it turned out great!

How to make GI Joe wet his pants

Fri, Dec 2nd,

Year: 2011

Make: Jeep

Model: Wrangler

Work Performed:
Here's a sure-fire recipe to make the strong smile and the weak run - take a Jeep, rhino-line the exterior, put massive tires on it, change the headers, supercharge it, and change the gearing to make it haul ass. While we can't take credit for the paint or tires, we feel like all of the other stuff that we actually did puts the icing on the cake!

This cat has 9 lives

Sat, Jun 30th,

Year: 2004

Make: Jaguar

Model: X-type

Work Performed:
Proof that a "cat" has more than one life; this X-type had a failed main seal that we replaced. A little time and a little patience...and success!

Nice rear end!

Fri, Jun 29th,

Year: 1989

Make: BMW

Model: 325i

Work Performed:
This car is a great example of a modern classic that actually gets driven. The good news is that is great to see these cars on the road; the bad news is that time and mileage took its toll on the rear end of the car. We replaced the rear suspension, rear subframe, differential and then aligned the car - she's good for at least another 100,000 miles!

Make room

Wed, Jun 20th,

Year:

Make: BMW

Model: 325

Work Performed:
This was simply a matter of physics - two elements cannot occupy the same space. In this instance, it was the driver's left leg and the safety cage; he simply didn't have enough room to comfortably drive. We cut out his existing cage and modified it by adding a NASCAR-style bump out and modified his door panel to allow the fit. He's got enough room for a couch now!

Darwin isn't the only one who knows about Evolution

Fri, Jun 15th,

Year: 2010

Make: Mitsubishi

Model: Evolution

Work Performed:
This was a routine inspection and general maintenance; but we also spent time training this customer on some routine procedures, including how to bleed his brakes (he is an autocrosser). While we were going over the vehicle; we found some imprints on his rear rotors from his brake pads - a certain sign of applying the handbrake after a session while the brakes are still hot. We pointed this out to the customer to make sure he understands how to avoid damaging his rotors in the future.

Parts Manufacturer:

We'll make you bleed! (A training session)

Sun, Jun 10th,

Year:

Make:

Model:

Work Performed:
We hosted a "how to bleed your brakes" training session where we got hands-on with our customers and walked them through the brake bleeding process. We demonstrated different methods to show how to perform this properly with a partner or when you are on your own.

Call for Reinforcements

Thu, Apr 19th,

Year:

Make: BMW

Model: M3

Work Performed:
The E46 chassis is a great chassis, but it does have some known failure points. One of those known issues is the subframe attachment point that ultimately results in cracking and failure. We removed the rear differential in this beauty to weld in reinforcement plates. While we had it out, we cleaned up and painted the subframe and pressed in solid aluminum bushings.

Cage "the beast"!

Wed, Mar 14th,

Year: 1993

Make: BMW

Model: 325i

Work Performed:
This car had a very well built cage; the only problem is that it was a bit too restrictive for anyone larger than a midget to be able to get in and out of the race seat. We cut out the bracing by the driver door and manufactured a new cross brace that extends outward taking advantage of the depth of the actual driver door. Between this and some custom seat brackets, we were able to create the room that was needed.

We also installed a new fire suppression system, remote battery kill pull cable for the driver, removed the heater core, installed a new throwout bearing and then a final corner balance and alignment. The owner just did his first event and said the extra room was great and the car felt fantastic!

"I want my ears to bleed....after it runs again"

Sun, Mar 11th,

Year: 1999

Make: Chevrolet

Model: Corvette

Work Performed:
The owner of this car has loved it every mile he has had it. The car looks beautiful and is a pride and joy. But even those most cared for require some maintenance and can always get better. After we drop in the new clutch, master and slave cylinders, we are dropping in a new exhaust system...the owner has specifically requested "the loudest street-legal exhaust possible". Well, when we are done, we will post a video and everyone can tell us if we succeeded. While we are at it, we will be powder coating the wheels to give it a more sinister all-black look. Stay tuned for final photos!

Battle worn...and then reborn!

Mon, Mar 5th,

Year: 1993

Make: BMW

Model: 325is

Work Performed:
This car had definitely paid its dues last season...it came to us a little battered from some fierce competition. We managed the repair of all of the body work, fresh paint, and new glass to get it looking ready for this season. But we also repaired some suspension damage lurking beneath the skin, and then corner balanced and aligned the car. We rebuilt the rear differential on the car, and even rebuilt a spare for back-up. Got it some new rubber, put in new hood catches, updated the fire system and got it all tech approved for both BMW Club Racing and NASA. Here's to some more first place finishes!

"I want to fly like an Eagle...

Tue, Jan 10th,

Year: 1991

Make: Eagle

Model: Talon TSi

Work Performed:
...someday". This is a long term project and before the motor and drivetrain go back into this shell (take a look at the picture of the very pretty motor all wrapped up and waiting!), it needs the proper fitments for its run down the 1/4 mile. The first step of the rebuild is get the cage constructed. The whole build will take some time so make sure to check back on the progress!

Wait...the engine is in the front?

Thu, Dec 15th,

Year: 1995

Make: Porsche

Model: 968 Cabriolet

Work Performed:
That's right - not all Porsche's are mid or rear engine! And that doesn't make this car any less of a true performer. This well loved example of a 968 came to us for a replacement radiator, new cams and a brake upgrade, as well as some "electrical gremlin" chasing. Now that she is running great (and can stop great too!), she's staying with us for the winter as part of our storage program.

Make some noise!

Fri, Dec 2nd,

Year: 2011

Make: Dodge

Model: Charger

Work Performed:
The owner of this car loves the way it looks and fits his lifestyle; except he didn't think it sounded as loud as it looks. Who are we to argue? A couple of hours in the shop and the "must have" new exhaust was installed, along with the "much appreciated" smile on our customer's face!

Tranny swap - sounds kinky

Fri, Oct 28th,

Year: 2002

Make: Chevy

Model: Corvette Z06

Work Performed:
The guy who drives this car pushes this car for all it has; so much so, the transmission decided to retire! We put a rebuilt T56 transmission into the car, and to protect the investment, we piped in a transmission cooling system (intercooler, pump and all stainless steel braided lines). While we were at it, we relocated his battery for safety and balance, and then did a full corner balance and alignment. We're not going to brag, but he did podium the next weekend!

Make it "cooler"

Sun, Sep 4th,

Year: 2000

Make: BMW

Model: M Coupe

Work Performed:
This isn't your "ordinary" M Coupe - this puppy has been twin scroll supercharged! It's quick and it gets a LOT of track time. It also got a lot of heat. That is where we came in; we adjusted the wiring on the puller fan to make sure we kept airflow moving, and installed some heat-extracting louvers in the hood. While we had it, we fixed a couple of electrical glitches and of course did a track corner balance and alignment. Word from our customer is that it never ran cooler...and looks cooler too!

New Life into an Old Friend

Wed, Nov 2nd,

Year: 1999

Make: Dodge

Model: Dakota

Work Performed:
You know how sentimental you get when thinking about your truck. They become a friend and you just can't let it go. So what do you do when you are approaching 300,000 miles and losing a quart of oil an hour? You let us rebuild the motor! The motor looked brand new by the time we were done with it and our customer is looking forward to another 300,000 miles.

Suspension Modifications and Drive by Wire Enhancement

Fri, Dec 2nd,

Year: 2011

Make: Maserati

Model: GranCabrio

Work Performed:
The Maserati GranCabrio is a great car right "out of the box". But we all know - we can make ANYTHING better! We put in lowering springs to help eliminate some of that GT car body roll and to let the wheels fill the fenders a little better. We also installed an advanced Drive-by-Wire Enhancement module that changed all of the throttle mapping, exhaust bypass valve programming and electronic shifting speeds and....WOW, what a difference!
